ANVE: the private AI office, on the record. See what that means

ANVE

Engineering note 05 · 14 October 2026

Two AI boxes launched last week.
Neither is for an office.

On 5 October, Ghost (ghost.ai) announced Core, a US$3,499 personal AI computer, with US$11 million led by Andreessen Horowitz. The next day, Oki introduced Oki Home, a home "memory computer", at US$1,799 for its first batch. Both put a capable model on hardware the owner holds. Both are sold as personal computers.

ANVE sits in the office instead, and the obvious question is whether it is just a bigger Ghost. We think it is a different job. What follows about Ghost and Oki comes from their own pages and press coverage, read on 14 October 2026. We have not used either box.

01

What launched

Ghost Core is US$3,499 excluding VAT, with a 24 GB NVIDIA RTX PRO 4000 Blackwell GPU and open models on the device. The first batch ships on 31 October. TechCrunch called the US$11 million a seed round.

Oki Home has a 16 GB RTX 5060 Ti, runs a 27-billion-parameter model on the device and keeps storage on a swappable Memchip. It launched at US$1,799 and is backed by Y Combinator (W25). Batch 1 has sold out; Batch 2 is US$2,299 and ships in the first quarter of 2027, and the launch is focused on US customers. Ghost's first batch sold out too, according to SiliconANGLE. We found no unit count for either.

02

What they do well

Both put the model, the memory and the files in the owner's hands, and both say plainly what still needs the internet. Ghost names web search, email and updates. Oki names remote access, connected services and optional cloud models.

Both publish concrete terms. Ghost gives a one-year warranty and 30-day returns. Oki's reservation is refundable and credited to the price, and no update installs without the owner's approval. Ghost's privacy policy even invites outside audits of its gateway. For one person's own data, that is a sound design.

03

What an office needs that one person does not

Ghost's homepage says Core does not wait to be asked, and TechCrunch says the owner controls how much autonomy it gets. For one person acting on their own life, that is a feature. In an office the questions change.

  • Who is asking? Several named people, each with their own sign-in and private files.
  • Who confirmed it? Every meeting action keeps its transcript quote, and the box records who confirmed its owner.
  • What did the AI do? Every model call is logged with the person, the app and the model.
  • Who controls the box? The office does. An administrator decides who signs in, and which connectors are allowed.

An office also holds other people's secrets: privileged files, client books, patient records. The duty of confidence follows the record wherever it sits, so an office needs to show who used AI on it, and to decide what may leave. The sector pages list the rules.

The model is not the difference: ANVE's default is also a 27B-class open model. Everything around it is. A personal assistant may act ahead of you. In an office, AI should never act without a name on it.

A person's box and an office's box

Where the ANVE column describes something not built yet, it is marked target. Our dated, sourced comparison with Ghost Core is on the compare page.

05

What leaves the box

Nearly every box that runs a model has exceptions. What matters is that they are written down. On an ANVE box nothing leaves unless the office chooses it. The visible exceptions today: podcast narration uses a cloud voice; cloud models and connectors work only if an administrator adds them, and are labelled and logged; Research looks sources up online when asked; models and software are downloaded during setup.

ANVE's own software sends us no usage data. The data-flow sheet lists each path and marks what is not on ANVE yet.

06

What is not real yet

  • No sealed unit exists. Every image of the appliance on this site is a labelled render.
  • The software runs today on a development machine.
  • No customers, no certifications, no delivery date.
  • Final prices are not announced. Indicative launch prices start at ₹2,99,000 excluding GST.
  • We have not tested ANVE against Ghost Core or Oki Home.

Pre-orders are open at ₹999 in India or US$12 elsewhere, refundable in full until you confirm an order in writing. The terms are two screens long and say so. Pre-order for ₹999, get launch updates by email if you are not ready, or book a free 20-minute demo. The demo is free; pilots are paid, with the fee agreed in writing before anything is installed.

If we have misread Ghost or Oki, write to hello@anveai.com and we will correct this note with a dated line, as we did in the earlier notes.
