Responsible AI
The principles behind trustworthy AI, and what they mean on an ordinary working day.

Short answer. Responsible AI is the practice of designing, buying and using AI so that it is safe, fair, transparent, private and accountable to the people it affects. Two Indian government documents set it out. NITI Aayog’s Responsible AI for All (February 2021) sets seven principles: safety and reliability, equality, inclusivity and non-discrimination, privacy and security, transparency, accountability, and protection and reinforcement of positive human values. MeitY’s India AI Governance Guidelines (November 2025) set seven sutras: trust is the foundation, people first, innovation over restraint, fairness and equity, accountability, understandable by design, and safety, resilience and sustainability. NIST’s AI Risk Management Framework describes seven characteristics of trustworthy AI. In an office, responsible AI comes down to checked outputs, protected data, clear accountability and honest disclosure.

From principle to practice in an office

  • Safety: test a tool on your own documents before relying on it, and keep a person checking outputs that leave the office.
  • Fairness: check accuracy across the languages, accents and groups you serve; speech tools are known to vary.
  • Transparency: tell clients and readers when AI shaped what they receive.
  • Accountability: one named person approves each AI use, and every output has a human owner.
  • Privacy: keep personal data out of tools not approved for it, and send in only what the task needs.
03

Where responsible AI meets the law

Principles are not law, but several have legal counterparts in India: the DPDP Act’s security and accuracy duties, CERT-In’s incident reporting, and the 2026 IT Rules amendment on labelling synthetic media. The India AI Governance Guidelines say a separate AI law is not needed at this stage and rely on existing laws plus voluntary measures.

04

How ANVE approaches it

In ANVE’s meeting minutes, every action item must quote the transcript line it came from, and a person must confirm its owner before the minutes are approved; each confirmation is logged, as is every model call. These are design choices that support accountability. They do not make an office’s use of AI responsible on their own.

Questions people ask

Is responsible AI a legal requirement in India?
Not as a single law. The principles are guidance, but parts of them map onto binding duties, such as security safeguards under the DPDP Act and labelling rules for synthetic media under the IT Rules.
Is responsible AI the same as ethical AI?
The terms overlap. Responsible AI usually stresses accountability and practical controls; ethical AI stresses values. In an office both lead to the same checks.
Where should a small office start?
With accountability and checking: one owner, an approved-tools list, and a rule that a person reviews AI output before it reaches a client.

What is not real yet

No sealed ANVE unit exists; every image of the appliance on this site is a labelled render. The software runs today on a development machine. No customers yet, no certifications, no delivery date, and the final price is not announced.

Reservations are ₹999 in India or US$12 elsewhere, refundable in full until you confirm an order in writing (terms). Offices that cannot use cloud AI can apply to be one of ten design partners.
