Can AI design app screens from a description?
Yes, as an editable first draft that a designer then owns.

Short answer. Yes, as a first draft. Given a description, or the requirements a meeting agreed, AI tools can produce screens, lay out components and export HTML or React code. They are strongest at getting a team past the blank canvas. They are weaker at exact layout and fine detail: the Design2Code benchmark asked multimodal models to turn 484 real web-page screenshots into code and found they mostly lag in recalling visual elements and in generating the correct layout. Accessibility also needs its own check, for instance text contrast of at least 4.5 to 1 under WCAG 2.2 level AA. Treat the output as a draft that a designer and a developer review.

What the research says about layout accuracy

Design2Code (Si and others, NAACL 2025) is, in its authors’ words, the first real-world benchmark for turning visual designs into code. It gave multimodal models 484 real web pages as screenshots and asked for code that renders the same page. The fine-grained results showed that models mostly lag in recalling the visual elements of the input and in generating the correct layout. A written description is a looser starting point than a screenshot, so expect to correct layout and content.

Accessibility needs a separate check. WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.4.3, at level AA, asks for a contrast ratio of at least 4.5 to 1 for normal text and 3 to 1 for large text. Do not assume that a generated colour palette meets it.

If an office wants a design tool of its own, Penpot is an open-source design platform under the MPL-2.0 licence. Its README says it is designed for self-hosting and can be deployed with Docker, Kubernetes and other options.

03

What a person must still check

  • Contrast, text size and tap targets, against WCAG 2.2 level AA for anything staff or the public will use.
  • Real content: long Indian names, Hindi text, large numbers, and the empty, loading and error states the first draft skips.
  • Brand colours, logos and tone, which a description rarely pins down.
  • Whether the screens match the requirements. Walk through each task from the meeting notes screen by screen.
  • The exported code before it goes near production: structure, security, data handling and licences of any libraries.
  • Claims on screen, such as prices, legal text and compliance statements. These must come from a person.
04

How an office would set this up

  • Write the brief on one page: who the users are, the three or four tasks they must complete, the data involved and any constraints.
  • Generate screens for one task first, review them with two or three real users, and note what confused them.
  • Edit on the canvas rather than regenerating from scratch, so the team keeps control of the design.
  • Run a contrast and layout check, then hand the exported HTML or React to a developer to review.
  • Keep the brief, the screens and the model used together, so the design can be traced to its requirements.
  • Keep unreleased designs and client requirements on your own machine if they are confidential.

What ANVE does today

ANVE’s UI/UX maker is Design Studio. It generates screens from a description or from what a meeting agreed, lets you edit them on a canvas, and exports HTML or a React component.

Design Studio runs today in ANVE’s development build, on a development machine. No sealed unit exists yet.

Questions people ask

Can AI design from meeting notes?
Yes, if the notes state the users, the tasks and the data. ANVE’s Design Studio can start from what a meeting agreed. Vague notes give vague screens, so tidy the requirements first.
Will the exported code be production-ready?
Treat it as a skeleton. Research on screenshot-to-code shows models still make layout errors, and generated code needs review for structure, security and data handling.
Does AI design replace a designer?
No. It gives a designer an editable first draft from the requirements. The decisions about users, flows, brand and accessibility remain with people.
Is there an open-source design tool I can host myself?
Yes. Penpot is open source under the MPL-2.0 licence and is designed for self-hosting. It is a design tool in its own right rather than an AI generator.

What is not real yet

No sealed ANVE unit exists; every image of the appliance on this site is a labelled render. The software runs today on a development machine. No customers yet, no certifications, no delivery date, and the final price is not announced.

Reservations are ₹999 in India or US$12 elsewhere, refundable in full until you confirm an order in writing (terms). Offices that cannot use cloud AI can apply to be one of ten design partners.
