Can AI generate images without the internet? Yes, on a machine with a GPU. Check the licence before using the images.
Short answer. Yes. Open image models such as Stable Diffusion XL, Stable Diffusion 3.5 and FLUX.1 run on local hardware, and ComfyUI, a free graph-based interface, runs them fully offline once the model files are downloaded. ComfyUI’s README claims it can run even the largest open models on as little as 4 GB of video memory plus 8 GB of system memory, using weight streaming. Licences differ: FLUX.1 [schnell] is Apache 2.0, FLUX.1 [dev] is non-commercial, and Stable Diffusion 3.5 is free for organisations with under US$1 million in annual revenue. Models still struggle with legible text, faces and exact layouts, so check every image before use.
01
Which open models, and on what terms
Licences are as stated on each model’s page in October 2026. Check them again before you rely on one, because terms change and some depend on your organisation’s revenue.

Worth knowing
Stable Diffusion XL base 1.0
CreativeML Open RAIL++-M
Its card lists limits: no perfect photorealism, it cannot render legible text, and faces and people may not be generated properly.
Stable Diffusion 3.5 Large
Stability Community Licence: free for research, non-commercial and commercial use by organisations and individuals under US$1 million in total annual revenue; an enterprise licence is needed above that
Stability describes improved typography and prompt understanding. Check the licence terms when revenue grows.
FLUX.1 [schnell]
Apache 2.0
A 12-billion-parameter model that can generate images in 1 to 4 steps. Its card says it can be used for personal, scientific and commercial purposes.
FLUX.1 [dev]
FLUX.1 [dev] Non-Commercial Licence
The same size as schnell, released for non-commercial use. Not suitable for an office producing client work without a separate licence.
02
How to run it offline
ComfyUI is a GPL-3.0 licensed, node-based interface and engine that supports Stable Diffusion 1.5, SDXL, SD3.5, FLUX.1 and other models. Its README says it runs fully offline: the core does not download anything unless you request it, and an --offline option disables the optional paid cloud API nodes. You download the model files once, on any machine with internet access, and copy them across.
03
What image models do badly
Text inside the picture. The SDXL card says it cannot render legible text. Add words afterwards in a design tool.
Faces and people: they may not be generated properly, and a generated person is not a real person.
Exact arrangements, such as a red cube on top of a blue sphere, which the SDXL card names as a difficulty.
True representations of people or events. The SDXL card says using the model for that is out of scope.
Brand marks and product likeness. Do not expect your logo or product to appear correctly.
04
How an office would set this up
Pick one use, such as slide images or background art, and one model whose licence fits an office producing client work.
Install ComfyUI on a machine with a suitable GPU, download the model files once and switch on offline mode.
Save the workflow that works so every colleague produces the same style.
Keep a log of prompts, the model and its licence beside each image that goes into a deliverable.
Label AI-generated images in documents and decks, and review each one before it is used.
Put text, logos and real people in with ordinary design tools, not the model.
05
What ANVE does today
ANVE generates images on the box’s own GPU through ComfyUI, so prompts and pictures stay on the device in the office. It runs today in ANVE’s development build. No sealed unit exists yet, and ANVE publishes no image-generation speed figures.
06
Questions people ask
How much video memory do I need?
It depends on the model and the settings. ComfyUI’s README claims it can run even the largest open models on 4 GB of video memory plus 8 GB of RAM using weight streaming. Treat that as a floor, test with your own model, and see the question on hardware for local image generation.
Can I use the images commercially?
Depending on the model. FLUX.1 [schnell] is Apache 2.0 and Stable Diffusion 3.5 is free to use commercially under US$1 million in annual revenue. FLUX.1 [dev] is non-commercial. Read the licence of the exact model you download.
Can it put our name or logo in an image?
Do not rely on it. The SDXL card says the model cannot render legible text. Add text and logos afterwards with a normal design tool.
Does it work with no internet at all?
Yes, once the model files are on the machine. ComfyUI’s README says the core does not download anything unless you ask.
07
What is not real yet
No sealed ANVE unit exists; every image of the appliance on this site is a labelled render. The software runs today on a development machine. No customers yet, no certifications, no delivery date, and the final price is not announced.
Reservations are ₹999 in India or US$12 elsewhere, refundable in full until you confirm an order in writing (terms). Offices that cannot use cloud AI can apply to be one of ten design partners.
