A doctor must not disclose a patient's secrets learnt in practice, except under court order, serious identified risk to others, or for notifiable diseases. Pasting patient records into a public cloud chatbot hands them to a third party. The rules that apply
Indian Medical Council (Professional Conduct, Etiquette and Ethics) Regulations, 2002 — Reg. 7.14: A doctor must not disclose a patient's secrets learnt in practice, except under court order, serious identified risk to others, or for notifiable diseases.
Mental Healthcare Act, 2017 — s.23 (Right to confidentiality): A person with mental illness has a right to confidentiality about their mental health, care and treatment. Health professionals must keep that information confidential, subject to listed exceptions.
Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 — s.8(5) and Schedule item 1: A hospital or clinic must take reasonable security safeguards, including over vendors' processing. Failure can draw a penalty of up to ₹250 crore.

No law names ChatGPT, but a doctor must not disclose a patient's secrets learnt in practice, except under court order, serious identified risk to others, or for notifiable diseases. Under the DPDP Act, an organisation stays responsible for processing done on its behalf by a vendor (s.8(1)). Keeping AI on the premises avoids sending patient records out at all. No sealed ANVE unit exists; every image of the appliance on this site is a labelled render. The software runs today on a development machine. No customers yet, no certifications, no delivery date, and the final price is not announced.
