ANVE: the private AI office, on the record. See what that means

ANVE

Private AI glossary · updated 2026-10-06

Private AI.
Defined in plain words, for offices deciding how to use AI.

Short answer. Private AI is artificial intelligence that runs on infrastructure an organisation controls, such as its own server or an appliance on its network, and works on the organisation’s own data. Prompts, documents and answers are not sent to a public cloud model, so the organisation decides who can see what and keeps the record of who asked what. Private AI can be on-premise, in a private cloud the organisation controls, or fully air-gapped.

01

Why it matters for an office

Law firms, hospitals, accountants, labs and government offices hold records under confidentiality rules. Sending those records to a public chatbot moves them to a third party. Private AI keeps the processing inside the boundary the rules already assume.

02

How ANVE uses it

ANVE is a private AI appliance: one device on the office network running a suite of AI makers for many named users, with an audit trail kept on the device.

03

Questions people ask

Is private AI the same as on-premise AI?
On-premise AI is one form of private AI, where the hardware sits in your building. Private AI can also run in a private cloud you control.
Is ChatGPT private AI?
No. ChatGPT runs in OpenAI’s cloud. Business plans add contractual protections, but the processing still happens outside your infrastructure.
